One day, while we were in Indiana, Claire (3) and Laney (6) started chanting “I want an Amuse Bouche” over and over. How many kids do you know who would have a clue what an Amuse Bouche is???
Or how many adults, for that matter.
An Amuse Bouche is a one-bite appetizer…usually a gift from the chef…to whet your appetite before a meal. I taught the girls this term one night when we prepared a “fancy” dinner to celebrate Christmas break. I was the chef and the girls were my sous chefs and servers. We ALL had so much fun!
I rummaged through the refrigerator and found some red raspberries and a can of whipped cream, so that was our Amuse Bouche to serve our “guests” at the start of our dinner.
A vocabulary lesson learned….and a a sweet bite shared…
