Last night was my last cooking class of the year…so I pulled out ALL the stops for THIS one! The class title was COMFORT FOODS AND HOLIDAY SIDES. I was happy to see some new names, and some familiar names on the roster-students who had taken some of my classes last year. I knew we would have an AWESOME group who love to learn…so I decided to make (and EAT) many different dishes during class. And when my students arrived for class they got a surprise…I let them vote right then and choose the main entree we would prepare in class! They had their choice of Shepherd’s Pie or Portabello Mushroom Meatloaf. They chose Shepherd’s Pie…so here is the BIG menu we prepared together.
(The class put multi-tasking to the test…and they all passed with flying colors.)
Bacon, Kale and White Bean Soup
Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Shepherds Pie
Green Beans
Chived Carrots
Wine Poached Pears with a Ricotta and Honey Sauce
Apple Pie Crostata
(At one time during the evening…we had FOUR STOVES AND TWO OVENS going at the same time!)
Here are some photos from the class. (Not many, since I was too busy cooking!)
Most of these recipes are posted on my blog if you’d like to try them yourself…And I hope you will!

It was a great end to the semester…and a wonderful evening spent with old (and new) friends…and fellow food lovers! I hope my students enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed them!
