It’s been about FIFTY YEARS since hubby Fred has seen so many of his cousins in one place. Let’s just say they had LOTS to catch up about, and as an “outsider” I had a great time hearing their stories and sharing lots of laughs.
The special event that brought them all together was the retirement and housewarming party for cousin Charlene, following her long career as an R.N. She has retired back to her childhood home area in the “thumb” of Michigan, on the shores of Lake Huron.

Three Generations…And an old high chair that held them all! |
What a variety of career paths those cousins have taken! From UPS driver Fred, to teachers, nurses, ministers, a greenhouse owner in Holland, and a college president in Kansas…their stories could fill a book! But one theme ran through every one’s stories…their love of family and fun as they grew up together.
Such a warm and happy time…and tomorrow you’ll see some of our dining experiences in “the thumb”…where the winters are long, and comfort food is GOOD…
OH how wonderful it was to be with you in that space!!! I have thought of you often and am loving reading your blog!! I think we are kindred spirits – so lucky am I!! – Tonya
