I took it as a good omen when the rain stopped just as the football game began. Our weekend of FUN in Dinkytown continued as the Hawkeyes walloped the Gophers…again. WAAAHOOO!
So after the game it was back to Tony’s Diner for a salad, baked potato, and some grilled chicken…and beer! (It WAS a celebration after all!) We stopped back at Blarneys and had a BIG surprise when a young Gopher fan named Dan insisted on buying us a beer! (Considering the fact that the Minnesota band wore shirts that said “Who hates Iowa? WE hate Iowa” we were not prepared for the genuine hospitality he showed to us. Thanks Dan!
After a great nights sleep we are heading home now and just finished breakfast at a YUMMY roadside restaurant in Hampton Minnesota called Little Oscars.
It was a bustling place on a Sunday morning. Its been around since 1964. Cute decor including a toy train that runs continuously on a track suspended from the ceiling. (Our grandkids would love watching it.)
The food was delicious, and Fred said the thick slice of ham he ordered was the best ham he ever tasted! I think Floyd of Rosedale is lucky the Hawkeyes took him back to Iowa City…considering that he could have ended up on somebody’s breakfast menu in the North Woods!
