I LOVE to welcome company since it gives me a chance to pull out all the stops and cook up a storm! And let’s face it. Our house is never cleaner than when we’re expecting houseguests. So this next week will be a whirlwind for me.
Tomorrow I’m heading to another local high school to teach three classes. It’s the school our sons attended, and there are still some familiar faces in the teachers lounge. That makes it a really special place for me.
I’ll be taking along 18 herbs that I grow, and each student will have a chance to identify the ones they know. Then I’ll whip up two loaves of herb bread for the kids to taste in each class.
Last week I shared the recipe for the Dill Seed Bread I’ll be making, and today I’m sharing my tried and true Garlic Bread with Fresh Herbs.
Just do a Search on my website and type in Garlic Herb Bread. (I think you’ll like it.) And I PROMISE to share my amazing stories and reviews and photos from our road trip out West last month. But that trip was SO SPECIAL I want to do it justice when I can finally catch my breath NEXT month when I can get back on my usual three posts per week schedule.
But right now a houseful of company is on the front burner.
You see…Peepaw’s cousins are arriving from “all over creation” and we’re hosting a “Kids Of Mose Cousin’s Reunion” here at our house. Those cousins will be streaming in from Colorado, Virginia, Nevada, Kansas, Michigan…and even from The Netherlands! So once again my posts will be “few and far between” as Mom used to say. Whew!!!
Who ever said retirement was the time when old folks slow down??
Not THIS old Meemaw.

Can’t wait to see you when I walk through the doors of Cedar Rapids airport and give you and Fred a big hug. Walking into your welcoming home in Iowa City always makes me feel like I’ve come home. Let our fun, fabulous week begin!
