On a beautiful night for grilling, I created a delicious marinade for our salmon…
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. soy sauce
1/3 c. water
2 T. Key Lime juice
I combined all the ingredients in a zip lock bag, and marinated the fish for about an hour.
And since I forgot to start soaking the cedar plank earlier in the day, it only had about an hour to soak…NOT long enough, I soon discovered. For a minute I thought I might have to yell for help from our neighbor Billy (a retired NYC fireman) to put out the flames…but I managed to handle it myself. 😉
I started grilling the salmon on the cedar plank, but then I moved the pieces onto the grill (after my flaming plank episode) since I really did want some grill marks and crispy skin anyway.
Flaky (and smokey!) grilled salmon…
And no fire trucks required.
I’d call that a success on ALL levels.
