So…What’s in a NAME??
Fred rode his bike past Julian’s…a restaurant where we’ve eaten many times. He rode by again the next day…and the Julian’s sign was gone. One window in the restaurant now says something like The Midnight Wine Bar…and the other window says Andre’s Bakery…so…What’s Up with THAT?
We decided to try breakfast there the other day…and the menu we were handed still says Julian’s!
We placed our order with a very friendly server (MUCH friendlier than the previous Julian’s servers!) and I walked inside to check out any changes. So THAT’S where the changes were made! They have installed a beautiful new bakery! (That makes THREE Mom and Pop bakeries within walking distance to our condo!)

Our breakfast was delivered…and my omelet was a thing of beauty…so puffy and light…like a French cloud! (Our server told us they have the same French chef they had when the place was called Julian’s…)

After a leisurely breakfast eaten outside on a beautiful morning, I couldn’t wait to see what name was on the bill when our server delivered it. (She laughed when I questioned her about all the names.) She told us the “Midnight” name in the window is to attract the late-night art gallery/jazz club crowd inside for tapas and a glass of wine on their way home…but the OFFICIAL name on the bill is Andre’s Bakery and Bistro.
But let’s just say no matter WHAT they call the place…I’m glad we gave it a try!
