Please allow me to introduce you to the best five dollar burger lunch in Fort Lauderdale! And the best part for us? We can walk there from our condo.
Yes, Bokampers is right across the water from our condo. And to get there we simply walk out our back door and walk across the drawbridge over the Intracoastal Waterway. (Sometime I’ll show you how we climb the cement embankment that leads up to the bridge. It’s quite a sight to behold, I’m told.)
So here is the view of our destination as we walked across the bridge last Tuesday…the only day this crazy good burger deal is available at that incredible five buck price!
That drawbridge opens twice per hour to let the tall vessels pass through on the busy waterway. And we make that bridge crossing often, since many of our favorite local haunts are located on the other side. And the ocean is also beyond the bridge…just an eight minute walk from our back door.
We seated ourselves in the huge outdoor patio that faces the water, and since it was already mid-afternoon we had the place almost to ourselves.
Now if you think Bokampers looks like a big place…you ain’t seen nuthin yet! This photo shows only HALF of the patio, and there are at least three more bars and food areas inside, including a sushi bar. And on game days all of their 150 Hi Def TVs are put to good use throughout the gigantic restaurant!
We selected a table near the water, and I couldn’t help but notice how close we really live to that giant place. (Our condo is down that first canal across the water.)
We live so close to so many tourist destinations like Bokampers…and yet our actual home is as quiet and peaceful as it can be.
In the daytime…
And at night.
But now…back to that $5 burger lunch.
Every Tuesday Bokampers offers their hand-crafted burgers made with a proprietary blend of Jackman Ranch wagyu short rib and 1855 angus chuck.
Wagyu beef is any of four Japanese breeds of beef cattle that are genetically predisposed to intense marbling. The meat from wagyu cattle is known for its high quality. It is incredibly flavorful beef.
That amazing burger is served with either fries or a salad…for five bucks! (Full Disclosure: You must purchase a beverage to qualify for the special deal, so I snagged a big iced tea to go with mine.)
I chose the salad instead of the fries, and I was shocked at the size and quality of that salad!
And about that wagyu burger? It’s served on a toasted bun with a leaf of lettuce, a tart and tangy dill pickle spear and side of ketchup.
Amazing…incredible…and perfectly cooked.
I couldn’t help but to feel like a tourist while we ate. And I loved watching “our” bridge as it raised and lowered for the vessels to pass by.
Yes…our winter home is surrounded by beauty…and it’s only a hop, skip and a jump to a bargain burger lunch on Tuesdays!
