When the waffle iron “beeped”…we checked the cookies. You may need to leave them for another minute. (We usually do a “test cookie” just to see how accurate the waffle iron is…)
And when the cookies were ready to eat, I was not surprised to see Little Sis join her sisters.
A yummy treat that took only minutes to prepare!
And earlier this year I turned those cookies into a “fancy” dessert during a “Cooking With Kids” cooking class with my little chefs. My students placed a warm cookie on each serving plate. Then I drizzled the cookie and the plate with caramel sauce…
We topped each cookie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, then sprinkled with a cinnamon/sugar mixture and then dusted with powdered sugar. (Cinnamon/sugar is optional…but yummy.)
An easy and elegant dessert, made in minutes.
It’s your call!
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 5 tsp. baking cocoa powder
- A "pinch" of salt
- 1 cup flour
- Non-stick cooking spray
- Powdered sugar (sprinkle on top after baking)
- In a large bowl mix together sugar, butter, vanilla, eggs, cocoa powder and salt. Mix well until light and fluffy. Then stir in flour and combine and mix well.
- Plug in the waffle iron and allow to preheat. Spray both upper and lower grates with non stick spray. Bake ONE test cookie to see how long it takes to cook until done! Place a heaping tablespoon of batter into one section of your waffle iron and close the lid. These cookies usually only several minutes to bake, depending on your waffle iron. Don't over-bake! Remove with a fork and sprinkle each cookie with powdered sugar. You can also top with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce.
