Meemaw’s Magic Dry Rub.
Ok…..how has it been this long without me posting one of my most favorite recipes ever? It’s a favorite because 1. it’s super easy to make and 2. it’s magical. Why is this dry rub magical? Because it goes on EVERYTHING PROTEIN. Chicken, turkey, fish, steak, burgers…..ALL GOOD. And try it on veggies too…Especially on roasted potatoes!
This rub is a blend of spices that will wake up your taste buds without a ton of heat…and that’s a good thing for me since I am not a fan of taste buds on fire. And it’s versatile too! You can add other spices or leave out ones you don’t like. (I added some cumin to my latest batch.) Just play with this recipe and make it your own!
- 2 1/2 tablespoons paprika
- 2 tablespoons coarse Kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh-ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tsp. dried cumin
- Mix well and store in a tightly sealed glass jar.

I used your dry rub on chicken legs…..the best ever flavor!
I love Aldi stores and have shopped in Germany at one when visiting.
Trader Joes is one of my favorites too!
Thanks for your great recipes and my special treat of your dry rub seasoning.
Should it be kept in the refrigerator?
Meemaw says
Thanks Kay! I’m glad you like it too. It dies NOT have to be refrigerated. Just give it a shake each time you use it to redistribute all the herbs and spices.

Saved that dry rub recipe! It’s so hard to find a good dry rub without brown sugar. I feel like 2 Tbsps of salt is too much though. I don’t like over salty foods.
Meemaw says
Thanks Barbara! I don’t like over salty foods either and I’m betting you won’t find my dry rub too salty. Let me know how you like it! And don’t be afraid to try it on many different foods. ENJOY!

This looks delicious. I’m going to make some & think I may use half smoked paprika. I also think I’ll make some up for gifts! Thanks for the recipe.
PS My ‘grandma name’ is Mimi.
