Dorothy and I decided to take a little “road trip” to Southbridge. We were amused by the road signs that New Englanders take for granted. At a busy intersection, the sign said “THICKLY SETTLED”. I guess that says it all!
We arrived in Southbridge just in time for lunch. (I’m seeing a pattern here!) So who should know better than the local UPS driver where we should eat? Of course his recommendation turned out to be AWESOME. The Elm Center Cafe is a step back in time. We felt it as soon as we walked through the door.
We were greeted with a smile by our server Jessica. She told us the owner, Jeremy (her boyfriend) had operated the restaurant for three years, and we asked for her recommendations for lunch.
She recommended the steak sandwich on focaccia,
and I HAD to order Jeremy’s Clam “Chow-da”. We were NOT disappointed!
The food was as good as the atmosphere, and Jeremy and Jessica are the perfect pair to guide you to a great meal.
