Here are some of the most common questions I receive. Don’t see your question below? Email info@MeemawEats.com. I love to hear from my readers!
Q: Does Meemaw do all of the work on the blog herself?
A: For the past six years, I have written all of the posts on my original blog, and for the past three years I posted every single day! And writing posts and sharing my family history through my blog has been a wonderful time commitment that I wouldn’t trade for the world. And over that time I’ve learned what I love to do and what I am good at…and what I don’t like to do and would prefer to delegate to someone else. (Remember Dear Readers…I’m retired…and I get to make my own rules!)
And that “someone else” happened to be much closer than I ever imagined!
So…beginning in 2016, my daughter-in-law Sarah has taken on some of the work of running Meemaw Eats, mainly behind the scenes. She will also write posts from time to time, mostly on the business of running a food and travel blog, and she will also be documenting her own travel adventures with my son Nick and their three daughters. We are a great team, with different strengths, and we work together well. (How many mothers-in-law can say that!) It does my heart good to read Sarah’s posts, especially when I see how “Meemaw’s teachings” always seem to have an impact on their meals and travel.
I began writing this blog as a way for me to live on for my grandchildren long after I’m gone…and since I consider this blog my legacy, I am really grateful we get to keep it in the family. My grandkids are already putting in their “resumes” for what “jobs” they’d like to have on this site, so who knows? Maybe this will become a multi-generational family business over time! And what a BLESSING that would be! Some people leave millions of dollars to their grandkids…but I only hope to leave memories…history…and my recipes to warm their tummies and hearts!
Q: Where are you headed next? We want you to stop by!
A: We would love to stop by! While we can’t visit every place we’re contacted about, we make a concerted effort to check out new places each road trip. We heavily weigh reader recommendations when we are plotting a course for our next adventure. So send in your suggestions! You can drop us a line at info@meemaweats.com
Where are we headed next? Here are the trips planned so far:
mid-Spring 2016: Time for our annual road trip trek from our Florida house back to the Heartland. Peepaw and I will be heading through Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois in late April/early May. This is a well-worn path for us; this time around we are looking for some new spots and stops!
late Spring 2016: Nick and Sarah will make a quick jaunt to the Richmond, Virginia, area for a wedding over Memorial Day weekend. They’ll make a few stops along the way in Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, and Virginia.
early Summer 2016: We will be taking some “day trips” as well as overnight adventures in Iowa and throughout the Midwest. We’re especially interested in overnight stays in old hotels within walking distance to some Mom and Pop eateries and pubs. (We LOVE exploring small towns with that “Back To The Future” vibe.)
early Summer 2016: Nick+Sarah+their three girls are heading on their summer road trip to Coastal South Carolina. They’ll swing through Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina before spending several days in and around the Charleston, South Carolina area.
late Summer 2016: Peepaw and I are excited to announce we are heading back to Oregon Wine Country! Our stay will include the Dragging the Gut festival in McMinnville, Oregon. This was one of our favorite trips of all time! We will be road tripping’ it through Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, and Oregon. Last time we visited some great places like here, here, and here. This time? Stay tuned…..
Q: We are a company/business and we want to work with you! How do we do it?
A: I’m honored! Check out the Work with Meemaw section of this site. There you’ll find out different ways you can work with me and how to request my media kit.
