Lunch time on this Road Trip found us in Williston, Florida. And we found ourselves at the Green Shutters Restaurant.
This part of Northern Florida is “Cowboy Country”, and there was no shortage of ten gallon hats and cowboy boots galore. It seemed like all the booths were filled with horse trainers and riders…and lunch time seemed to be the perfect time to order some smoked beef brisket!
It was absolutely delicious! And so were the lima beans and parsley potatoes that came with it. I was surprised by the little slice of cornbread the cook added…it was also a Southern delight! And the BBQ sauce?? If they bottled it, the cook might be able to retire early! YUMMY!!!
Apparently the Green Shutter Restaurant is also known for it’s…CAKES! One of the waitresses took time out from waiting on customers to work on several cakes. The table was in the middle of the dining room, and it was fun to watch her “work her magic” on the desserts.
Once again, we made a good choice on our stop, and it warms my heart to know there are good people in this world…and people who love to cook for friends and strangers alike! (And I don’t think you would remain a stranger very long in the town of Williston.)
