After a short nap, and a shower (to wash away the memory of all of those Illinois toll booths!) it was time for a nice, cold beer on a beautiful summer day. So we headed out of the hotel and strolled down the street to a place called the Courthouse Tavern and Grill…
The interior of the restaurant is inviting and welcoming, and we had our choice of outdoor or indoor seating. We decided that the bar looked like the best place to sit to connect with “locals”.
The bartender told us he has worked there for twelve years! (And in “bar years” that must be about one hundred!) I told him they must have a guaranteed clientele with the court house across the street. The lawyers who win, and the lawyers who lose must ALL march across the street for a beer after the jury comes back with a verdict!
We checked out the Appetizer menu, and we decided on the SMALL portion of their famous onion rings. And how many onion rings are in a SMALL portion, you ask??
We decided it would absolutely serve FOUR people as an App.
And one really bright spot at that bar? The beer was ICE COLD! In fact, there was ice forming in the glass when the bartender set the glass down in front of me.
What a GREAT way to unwind and regroup before stepping back outside to explore all that Sycamore has to offer!
