It’s hard to believe this cafe is located the the HEART of The Heartland…
To me, it looks like a page right out of an old Western novel…
But it’s not out West…It’s in the heart of the Meskwaki Indian territory…
In Tama, Iowa!
We made a quick stop for breakfast on our way to my blogger conference…and it was a great choice!
The food was delicious, and so was the coffee, although they only had powdered creamer. But Beth, our friendly and efficient waitress, brought us some milk to add instead.
And you know me…I struck up a conversation with Beth…and soon we were all shocked to discover that she grew up several miles from our farm near Kalona! A small world, indeed…
And it’s time once again for me to get up on my soapbox and BEG everyone to LOOK FOR THESE MOM AND POP DINER GEMS in our great country…AND EAT THERE! If we don’t make the effort, they will ALL disappear…and we’ll be left with nothing but the same old cookie-cutter fast food joints serving the same old, tasteless stuff at every exit off of every freeway in America.
Trust me, these little places are worth the effort to find.
Great food and friendly people…and a new story to discover behind every front door…
What’s NOT to love!
