I loved it the minute I saw it. La Bastide Bed and Breakfast was everything I had hoped it would be…and so much more.
As soon as we set foot on the front step the welcoming vibe became crystal clear.
(Disclosure: Thank you to La Bastide Bed and Breakfast for hosting our stay. But, as always, the opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own)
As the cheery red door swung open, we were warmly greeted by one half of the dynamic duo of the La Bastide innkeepers. Co-owner Elizabeth met us with open arms and a warm heart. Her cheerful demeanor quickly set the tone for our 24 hour visit.
As we stepped inside we were struck by the beauty and elegance of the large home.
A glance into the dining room filled me with anticipation for breakfast the following day.
Elizabeth gave us a quick tour of the inn as she showed us to our room. She explained that her husband Mark was gone to an afternoon meeting but we would meet him later. Then she invited us to unpack and explore the property on our own and at our leisure, which we were anxious to do.
Even the quirky keychain on our room key made us smile. It reminded us we were in Willamette Valley wine country!
Our room awaited us at the end of the hallway.
The Champagne Room…
That beautiful suite was filled with everything a guest could possibly need or want.
We visited during the hot, dry summer months but I knew that fireplace would be a welcome addition when the damp and rainy Pacific Northwest winter days arrive. What a cozy place to spend the night…in ANY season!
We found every amenity a guest could want or need in our spotless bathroom.
Many treats were waiting for us in that beautiful room. We found complimentary bottled water, and even locally made chocolate truffles with a Pinot Noir twist.
This card entitled us to a complimentary wine tasting at the vineyard next door.
We quickly unpacked our bags and we set out to explore La Bastide before heading to the vineyard tasting room.
Innkeepers Mark and Elizabeth have opened their gorgeous home to their guests. And as a former travel agent I was struck by the attention to detail I found throughout the entire bed and breakfast.
A fully stocked refrigerator filled with drinks awaits guests any hour of the day or night.
Help yourself at the coffee and specialty tea bar. Or grab a”to go” cup if you’re heading out the door to explore the 25+ wineries and tasting rooms within a two mile radius of La Bastide!
Check out the fully equipped wine cabinet stocked with quality glassware. This makes it easy for guests to open and enjoy the wines they may decided to purchase on their vineyard adventures.
There is even a fully equipped exercise room to work off those extra calories!
Step into the sitting room filled with games and reading materials. There is even a croquet set to take out to the back yard off the patio.
And speaking of reading materials…Mark and Elizabeth have also provided all sorts of literature and information about nearby activities. They have even prepared a special brochure offering wine-free excursions and itineraries for those who don’t share a passion for wine. (What incredibly thoughtful hosts!)
We headed out the back door to check out the gorgeous patio. We found herbs, fruits and veggies growing there too. The La Bastide gourmet breakfasts take freshness to new heights using produce grown right outside the door!
As we made our way toward the vineyard next door I turned around and gazed at the beautiful place we were calling our home that night.
I could only imagine the breakfast we would enjoy the next morning.
Yes, life is good in Dundee Oregon. Especially behind that red door at La Bastide Bed and Breakfast.
Stay tuned, Dear Readers. Stay tuned.
