Mother Nature pulled a fast one this year. It seemed as if Spring would NEVER arrive. But I’m patiently waiting for our lilacs to bloom this year so I can whip up a batch (or many) of these delicious Lilac Cornmeal Cookies!
You see, last year our lilacs were nearly FINISHED blooming when we headed back to the Heartland after our Winter in Florida. And this year I have checked our lilac buses almost daily as I wait for those fragrant blossoms to finally open. But you know the old saying…Good things come to those who wait!
Yes, these cookies sound crazy, but if you have these sweet smelling flowering shrubs in your yard I hope you’ll give these cookies a try. Just be sure to use only the flower petals…no stems or leaves. And let me know how you like them. (I’m guessing you’ll wish your lilacs would bloom all year long.)
You’ll find the link to more photos and the cookie recipe right HERE.
