It turns out there really IS such a thing…and it was invented in Iowa!
I’ve “doctored” up this recipe over the years and I’ve finally landed on the perfect Loose Meat sandwich. It’s really easy, and very tasty…
LOOSE MEAT SANDWICHES
(You can double, triple, or quadruple the recipe as needed.)
1 lb. ground beef
1 T yellow mustard
1 T apple cider vinegar
1 T sugar
1 onion, finely diced
Brown the ground beef and add salt and pepper. Make sure to break up the meat into small pieces. When meat is cooked, add one finely diced onion and cover the meat with water. Then stir in the mustard, vinegar and sugar. Stir well and let the meat mixture simmer until the water is evaporates and the mixture thickens. DONE!
