As most of you know, Peepaw and I are snowbirds. And we’ve spent the past ten days packing, cleaning and traveling. And we’ve finally arrived at our Florida condo…our winter home. Just in time for Christmas. But since all of the grocery stores are closed…there will be no cooking for me today!
We’re still unpacking and settling in, so please allow me to share these treasured photos from the past…photos of cooking precious time spent cooking with our grandchildren!
Some of my favorite family memories are created in the kitchen…especially when our grandchildren are involved. I’m a VERY impatient person…except when cooking with children. Teaching kids about foods and cooking and nutrition has become a huge part of my life, and I know it is something that will live on in them long after I’m gone. Maybe that’s why I don’t get caught up in the “buy me that” mentality in toy stores and clothing stores. I would rather leave our grandkids a lasting legacy of memories and skills they can use.
No matter which style is implemented…our grandkids have fun in the kitchen!
That is one huge chicken pot pie these grandkids are making!
Kids are like sponges…they soak up every bit of information I share with them! And they remember my rules long after the meal is over.
One day, as we were making our homemade chicken nuggets, Delaney said “Meemaw, when I have kids I’m going to teach them how to make these.”
Be still my heart! Another recipe lives on…for a new generation.
And THAT was the best Christmas present I could ask for.
So Merry Christmas from the beach this year…and I hope your day was filled with faith, family, fun and food. And may the foods and recipes you shared with your family be passed down to the next generation…and beyond!
