A summer trip to Michigan wouldn’t be complete without spending a few days with Peepaw’s sister (Also named Patricia!) and her husband, Robert. The couple built a beautiful waterfront home that has a lake house vibe we feel as soon as we pull into the driveway.
And do you want to know a secret? Even though some of the furnishings were purchased from designer showrooms…the majority of furniture and decor were thrift store finds and garage sale scores! It’s an amazing, gorgeous space. So come with me and I’ll give you a tour.
The beautiful gray/blue house is built with water views from every angle. The decks, balconies and windows take full advantage of the lake.
And that lake view?
The view of the house from the private dock is amazing…
Let’s step inside the screened porch filled with white wicker…It’s a wonderful place to sip morning coffee or a glass of wine during “Lake House Happy Hour”…
The living space combines dining and family room areas, and the comfy furniture faces the windows and the water.
The family room boasts a two story ceiling and massive windows that flank the gorgeous fireplace faced with native stone…
The open staircase leads up to a landing that provides extra sleeping space for the many grandkids and summer visitors who arrive on their doorstep.
And windows make the yellow, blue and white color scheme pop in the bright light…
A short hallway leads into the master bedroom…
Complete with a fireplace and a huge private deck off the bedroom…
The headboard consists of re-purposed shutters from the original lake cottage that stood on the current site.
The master bath is large and tastefully appointed…
And guests also receive five-star treatment in the gorgeous home. In fact, we are treated to our own private wing in the lake house! And the luxurious treatment begins as soon as we open the door into our own suite.
Our large bedroom is complete with a Sleep Number bed, large closet, bottled water, snacks, and cable TV! And if a view of the water is something I’m craving, I simply open a door…
And step out onto our own private deck!
Our private bathroom is filled with thoughtful touches. Like the little footstool strategically place outside the shower…a perfect spot to hold travel accessories. And a spot to hang a towel before and after a shower.
And Patricia and Robert also thought about the tiny guests who sometimes visit…so they have their own special hooks to hang their towels!
My tour concludes in my favorite room in any house…the kitchen. But instead of sharing photos of the counter top and appliances I’ll share some of the foods we enjoyed creating in that beautiful galley kitchen during our all too brief stay. But I’ll save that for another post.
That lake house is a gem…and so are the people who live there. And the vintage sign hanging on their sunny, welcoming porch sums up my feelings perfectly…
