I’m blessed with LOTS of tart cherries in our freezer, and I was looking for a different way to use some of them. I came across an old family recipe in one of my cookbooks, and I decided to give it a try.
I made my Aunt Ernestine’s Cherry Dessert.
I used about 3 cups or more of cherries, and since they had SO MUCH juice I omitted the water called for in the recipe…
Spread the filling evenly in a baking dish. (I used a 2 1/2 quart baking dish.)
Pour on the HOT cherry mixture on top of the batter and place in 350 degree oven. I actually baked mine for about 45-50 minutes.
The result??
So THANKS AGAIN Aunt Ernie!
It tasted like “old times”…like the cherries we picked from the trees on our farm…more than fifty years ago!

It’s amazing the warm and wonderful memories that are triggered by the foods we eat.
Sweet dreams are expected tonight…

Oh dear L-rd! I need this in my life. As soon as I can get my hands on jarred sour cherries I’m going to attempt it….
