We LOVE Stella. Actually, Stella is the name I’ve given to the GPS App on my smart phone.
It was lunchtime as we found ourselves barreling down the freeway toward another town in Michigan to spend several days with Robert and Patricia at their beautiful lake home.
As you may remember, Fred and I refuse to eat at a franchise establishment unless starvation is the alternative. So I Googled “Restaurants in Durand MI” and turned the reins over to Stella. After leaving the freeway, and after a dozen twists and turns down tree lined back roads filled with autumn colors, we found ourselves in the picturesque village of Durand. Our destination was Nick’s Hometown Grill.
I asked Fred to take my picture in front of the restaurant sign (so I could remember where I was in case of a “senior moment of forgetfulness”) when a cheerful “local” Larry Sprague stopped on the sidewalk to chat. In our five minute conversation he shared details about the town of Durand we would never have unearthed, if not for Stella’s guidance that got us there in the first place.
