My Thanksgiving meal prep guidelines may be in order right about now since my favorite holiday is only days away. (Here is a look back at our 2014 Thanksgiving meal…and my three little sous chefs who helped me pull it all together that year!)
Every year I hear horror stories about folks who make all kinds of mistakes in preparing for their Thanksgiving feasts this week.
- Folks who forget to thaw their turkey. (It should ALREADY be thawing in the frig this year!)
- Forgetting to turn the oven on (or OFF!)
- Leaving the giblet package inside the turkey (I did that the first time I cooked a turkey!)
- Stuffing the turkey…and UNDERCOOKING the bird! (You can KILL people that way!)
- Allowing raw poultry to contaminate the kitchen surfaces (I’m the Queen of Bleach!)
So grab a cup of coffee and sit down. On second thought…maybe make it wine instead.
Take a deep breath, and know that it’s all going to be OK. You CAN do this.
Take a few minutes to read my prep schedule and guidelines for a safe and healthy Thanksgiving. My 2014 dinner in a nutshell.
And if all else fails, just follow the advice of one of our dear grandkids. (She wrote this several years ago for a school project.)
Her recipe sounds just about perfect to me.
So Happy Thanksgiving! And please know MY blessings include each and every one of you.
