The older we get, the more we realize we don’t want to put things off…especially the things we enjoy. So last year we threw a last minute “mini-class reunion”…and we had so much fun we decided to make it an ANNUAL event since we’re not “spring chickens” anymore.
So last night was our Second Annual Class Reunion of the Mid Prairie Class of 1969!
And we went back to the same wonderful location to hold our event…
The Kalona Brewing Company in Kalona, Iowa.

It was a perfect evening, in every respect. And being a food and travel blogger, I decided to showcase some of the wonderful food which was served to our classmates last night. (Picture me sneaking up on classmate’s plates as they were just about to dig in to their grub!)
I think it was worth it so you can now sit back and enjoy this culinary tour.
So many great menu items…it was hard to choose a favorite…But here are some of the entrees our classmates selected…
Fish And Chips |
Now THAT’S A Burger! |
Bratwurst With Grilled Onions and Peppers, and Sweet Potato Fries |
Meat Loaf With Mac And Cheese |
Portabello Mushroom Cap with Tomato, Mozzarella And Spinach With Balsamic Glaze |
Grilled Salmon And Dill Sauce With Grilled Zucchini And Risotto |
Shay, our lone server, was amazing. She made handling our group of approximately forty guests appear effortless! I marveled at how she kept all of our food and drink selections straight, since all forty of us spent the entire evening wandering from group to group and changing locations in the outdoor beer garden. She made it look like a breeze to keep our group of forty guests happy. (Shay told me she used shirt colors to keep track of food and drink orders. Incredible.) We were all allowed to order off the menu instead of being required to choose a preset dinner choice for the whole group. ..and we LOVE that option! (Our class always did have a hard time agreeing on things. Remember…it was the 60’s!)
For two years The Kalona Brewing Company has gone out of their way to make our class feel welcome. SO welcome, in fact, that I didn’t even wait until the evening was over to ask Manager Sara if we could already book for NEXT August.
Because, like I said, we don’t like to put things off!
