About one block from Fremont Street…and a stone’s throw from The Mob Museum (how appropriate!) you will find a great spot for dinner. Especially if you’re craving a salad bar and a huge hunk of prime rib.
Check out the Market Street Cafe in the California Hotel…
A “local” steered us to the place.
You get your choice of soup…(Rick said his Chicken Corn Chowder was great.)
Or the salad bar…(We loved it.)
And the prime rib dinner for $9.99 was a real bargain…
Our friend Candy got a club sandwich….and she said it was very good. The bacon was crispy and they didn’t skimp on the fillings…
And the unexpected (and free) “Cherries Jubilee” ice cream dessert was a throwback to the old “all you can eat” Vegas…and it was really GOOD!
The California Hotel Casino caters to many Hawaiian visitors, and it was spotless. And the service in the restaurant was good.
I noticed Eggs Benedict on the Breakfast menu for $7.49…but we were leaving Vegas before dawn, so I could only imagine how it would taste…
But our friends had a later flight and they went back for breakfast the next morning…So thanks to Candy for THIS picture! (Turns out we both have very similar tastes in breakfast selections!)
Candy said this Eggs Benedict was good…not spectacular…but good. And for $7.49 it certainly beats many franchise places. I also noticed it was even served with grilled asparagus…That’s an elegant touch on a bargain dish!
So my travel tip?
Ask a “local” for their dining recommendations.
And don’t be afraid to stray off the beaten path.
A good deal on a great meal could be waiting…and only one block away.
Now…About that Mob Museum…
